chafing – what happens when you wear your chaps too tight; what a partner might do to restore warmth to your chilled body parts in a homoerotic fic; a small warming dish

chaffing – Mocking or teasing someone. For example, if they’re wearing assless chaps in January.

scraping – rubbing something across a hard surface. Oddly enough, this can lead to chafing. 

scrapping – throwing something into the junk pile because it’s scrap. Like a really chafed pair of chaps.

Example: Discreet affairs are generally more fun than discrete affairs.

Loosing: releasing from bonds, e.g. a tie at the end of a day, or your hounds after crying, ‘havoc.’

Losing: misplacing or not being victorious, e.g. when said hounds demand your arising from bed despite your pleas for ‘just 10 more minutes? Please?’

rogue – an individual that has separated from its group and roams about alone; in this state, it is often dangerous (e.g. a rogue werewolf)

rouge – A red amorphous powder consisting of ferric oxide. Used in polishing glass, metal, or gems, and as a cosmetic, etc.

definitely – with precision; precisely; determinately

defiantly  – bold; insolent

Laving: to lick or wash

Lathing: to carve a turning object with a blade

defuse: cutting/removing the fuse from a bomb to stop it exploding; deescalating a tense situation before it goes to hell

diffuse: spreading something over a wide area.

for the love of god, do not diffuse the bomb.

bare: adjective – uncovered (bare arms); verb – to uncover (bare your soul)

bear: verb – to carry, support, or endure (The shelf could not bear the weight of the books; I cannot bear misused homophones)

Also a noun:

peck: verb – to strike sharply at something, as with a beak (pecking at birdseed); noun – a quick kiss (she gave him a peck on the cheek)

pec: the pectoral muscle, or:

Peak: apex, summit

Pique: attract attention, cause curiosity

Peek: sneak a glimpse

Rain: water falling from clouds

Rein: like on horse. fig. “Rein it in” to mean “bring under control”

Reign: monarch’s time on the throne. fig. “Silence reigned”
